Rita, Hospital Resident

Rita came to us in 2020 through rescue for treatment of a severely injured tail which unfortunately had to be amputated.  However, don’t let that fool you that did not slow her down.  Her formal name is Renata but through the years she has gained many different nicknames such as Rita (which we use primarily), Renta, Sassy Pants, Fuzzy Britches, and Ginger Gorilla to name just  a few.  Throughout her treatments she became very close to our Veterinary Assistant Sam and was generously gifted to her through adoption by Dr. Pressley.  Sam could not bear to take her from where she was comfortable and from everyone here who loves her so she remains with us and is a feisty companion for Chuck.  Rita lives up to the fiery redhead personality and has her pet me moments and “leave me alone” days.  Mostly she remains in back with the staff but will occasionally make a rare appearance up front.  Rita’s likes consist of laying on towels on  treatment tables when they are needed by us, messing up prepped treatment areas, guarding Dr. Pressley’s office, and brushings.  Her favorite event is parading through the hospital with a toy in her mouth yowling until she is recognized for her accomplishment.  Rita does not like overcast days, extended pettings or being ignored.
